The mayor of Dortmund, Ullrich Sierau, has criticized the last "Tatort" issue "Zorn" as clichéd and as "bullying" towards the city and residents. In a letter to WDR director Tom Buhrow wrote the SPD politician, even a thriller script must "show a minimum of reference to reality". But: "It is a crude presentation without any regional knowledge".

Around 9.2 million viewers saw the latest case of the series in the dying mining industry last Sunday. In front of gray industrial scenes, Peter Faber (Jörg Hartmann) and Martina Bönisch (Anna Schudt) investigated the murder of a former miner. A Malocher thriller with high beer and tipping density, and with a gloomy atmosphere, in the after pit closures former buddy frustration because of lack of job prospects.

"Zorn" was written by Jürgen Werner, the creator of the "Tatort" in Dortmund. Lord Mayor Sierau complains now, on the places of action Dortmund, Marl and the entire region was given a non-applicable image. The structural change is hidden. "The creators of this episode are ridiculing the people of a region by drinking beer in tracksuits in front of rundown houses." The WDR disqualifies also "itself as producing transmitter". The film was also shot in Duisburg.

Faber "crime scene": anger in the stomach, fist in the air

The WDR replied: The "crime scene" is fiction. "For dramaturgical reasons is also condensed and sharpened." As a result, individual scenes could be perceived by some as clichés, by others as realistic representations.

One should not underestimate the audience, advises cultural scientist Julika Griem from Essen: "The audience is aware that the" crime scene "tells a fictional story, even if realistic scenes of a city are used to set on recognition effects of the audience. Clear message of the scientist: "The makers of a thriller series are not committed to city marketing and not responsible for making a city appear in rosy light." Although some local politicians apparently had this hope.
