Ferrero, the Italian chocolate and confectionery company, has suspended production at the world's largest Nautella plant, The Weekly reported.

Production was suspended at the Nautella plant in Normandy, France, which is responsible for producing up to a quarter of the world's famous chocolate sales due to "poor quality".

Ferrero has announced it has temporarily suspended production at its Villiers Ecales plant in northern France as a precautionary measure.

"We can confirm that the current situation has not affected any of the products offered for sale," the company said in a statement.

The temporary closure will enable experts to conduct the necessary investigations into the quality of the materials used in the production of Nutella, and the results will be known by the end of this week.

The announcement comes after quality control officials discovered a certain defect in a Nutella and chocolate maker, Kinder Bueno.
