Wolfgang Seibert was chairman of the Jewish community Pinneberg, a member of the board of the Schleswig-Holstein State Association of Jewish Reformed Churches and asked questions of Judaism and xenophobia in public. Now he resigns for fraud allegations.

According to the association, both sides had agreed on a mutual agreement to avert damage to the Jewish community, according to the Norddeutscher Rundfunk (NDR). Last week, the SPIEGEL published a research, according to which Seibert is a multiple pre-tried scammers and impostors: He lied about his alleged Jewish origin and deceived close friends. The National Association of Jewish Communities of Schleswig-Holstein has now announced that Seibert has resigned. He already announced this step to the SPIEGEL.

Seibert himself has since not commented on the allegations. His lawyer Alexander Hoffmann said Seibert had covered in some public presentations and wanted to apologize for it. Seibert belonged in 2002 to the founders of the Jewish community Pinneberg, since 2003 he was its chairman. With about 250 members, it is one of the two largest of the six reform communities in Schleswig-Holstein. Seibert was also a member of the board of the State Association of Reformed Churches and represented the association until recently in the Central Council of Jews in Germany.
