The discovery of such objects, whether authentic or artificial, could pose a "risk of evacuation" of the stations served by Eurostar. The offending items may be "confiscated" warns the company.

A few days before the commemoration of the centenary of the end of the First World War, the Eurostar Railway Company reminded its customers that the transport of vintage munitions, transformed into souvenirs, was strictly prohibited on its lines.

As we approach November 11, we remind you that on Eurostar, the transport of shells (fragmented or whole), weapons, ammunition, authentic or dummy, is prohibited. These objects would then be confiscated to safety and this could lead to evacuation of the station. pic.twitter.com/eiUNUCzgNJ

"You will take the Eurostar during a commemoration period. We want to remind you that the transport of shells (fragments or whole), weapons, ammunition, authentic or dummy, is forbidden, " writes the company in a message sent to passengers.

Eurostar, which serves several international destinations including London, Paris, Amsterdam and Brussels, warns that the objects in question may be "confiscated" , and that their discovery could pose a "risk of evacuation" station.

In 2015, the North Station evacuated because of a shell defused

The transport of shells from the First World War, turned into souvenir objects or flower pots, is regularly the source of security alerts.

In 2015, a man had tried to take a train station North, in Paris, towards London, with a "shell defused" in his bag, causing the immediate intervention of deminers and the evacuation of all passengers from the lobby international.
