Canada plans to receive 1 million new immigrants as part of its plans for the next three years, after receiving more than 286 thousand immigrants in 2017, according to US News.

The Canadian authorities look forward to receiving talented and experienced workers in the country's economy, as well as refugees looking to start a new life, according to the annual migration report to parliament.

The report revealed that Canada is ready to receive 330 thousand new immigrants in 2019, and 341 thousand in 2020, in addition to 350 thousand in 2021.

"The immigrants provided great services to Canada," said Canadian Immigration Minister Ahmed Hussein. "Our success in the future depends on them and on continuing to receive them. We welcome them and hope to integrate them into our society."

Immigration accounted for 80 percent of Canadian population growth between 2017 and 2018, with at least one immigrant out of five Canadians, according to the migration report.
