This follows the collapse of two buildings, Monday, November 5 in the morning and a third in the evening, killing eight people in the rue d'Aubagne.

"To date, the causes of the collapse of these buildings [...] are not established," said the prosecutor of Marseille, Xavier Tarabeux, in a statement. Following the tragedy, searches were carried out in several departments of the city hall of Marseille and in the office of Arlette Fructus. The premises of Marseille Habitat, social landlord of the city to which belonged one of the buildings, whose elected is the president, were also raided.
