"Everything he has done should lead to the greatest possible damage," the "Bild" newspaper quotes Carsten Dombert. The chief prosecutor has applied for the maximum sentence for the bomb attack on the footballers of Borussia Dortmund. He assessed the assassination attempt of 11 April 2017 in his plea in front of the Dortmund district court as a multiple attempted murder - and demanded life imprisonment for the defendant Sergej W.

The defendant had admitted in the process of detonating three self-made explosive devices at the departure of the team bus at the team hotel of the BVB. During the attack, defender Marc Bartra, who was still active for Dortmund, and a motorcycle police officer were injured.

Bet on crash of the BVB share

In about eleven months of taking evidence, experts have examined the danger of explosives spiked with metal parts. Sergei W. was therefore unable to control the bombs at the attack or predict their impact. The 29-year-old denies, however, any killing intent.

He had "no one injure or kill", but "only pretend a stop" to trigger a fall in the price of BVB shares, says W. in the process. He had previously bought tens of thousands of euros in warrants and contracts. He put so much money on falling courses.

W. claimed to have deliberately designed and aligned the bombs to prevent serious damage. But he had explicitly accepted the claims for pain and suffering of the two injured.

Early in the process, W. had admitted to having built the bombs and hiding them in a hedge at the team hotel "l'Arrivée" before the departure of the BVB team bus. The explosives detonated when the fully occupied bus began to move shortly after 19 clock to drive the team to the Champions League home game against AS Monaco in the Signal Iduna Park.
