They immediately recognized the situation and bravely intervened: in Bielefeld, two young women prevented a rape. The police confirmed a report of the "New Westphalians". The newspaper first reported the Sunday morning incident in the city center.

According to a police spokeswoman, the two women, aged 20 and 21, saw a man attacking another woman from behind and dragging her into a bush. When she screamed for help, the two women intervened. They pulled the man away from her and alerted the police. Thereupon, the alleged perpetrator tore the mobile phone out of their hands, a police spokeswoman said.

The two witnesses had also reported that the man had previously threatened her with an open folding knife. When the man escaped, the 21-year-old pursued him for a short time.

A little later, the man was put by officials and arrested. He is now in custody for attempted rape. According to the police, he is a 25-year-old residing in a refugee camp.
