On the A95 near Wolfratshausen there was an accident with a ghost driver on Monday evening: According to police, an 80-year-old taxi driver drove in the wrong direction and collided with two oncoming vehicles - one of them head-on. All three involved were injured in the accident and hospitalized.

The 80-year-old from the Augsburg area was traveling with his taxi without a passenger in the area of ​​Lake Starnberg. At a speed of 150 kilometers per hour he had been on the wrong lane in the direction of Garmisch-Patenkirchen, the police said. In the vehicles involved in the accident therefore sat a 51-year-old and a 37-year-old, both from Munich.

The police are currently investigating the cause of the accident. According to the authority, the wrong-way driver is diabetic. Thus, the accident could be the result of hypoglycemia.

The man should have been back in Augsburg on Monday afternoon. After the police headquarters reported to the police that the driver was confused on the phone, he was located by GPS.

The accident resulted in total damage of about 120,000 euros. The road was closed for two hours.
