An armed man has threatened and temporarily seized two women in a building in Aschaffenburg, according to the police. The former employee of the company had come to the office with a pistol, said a police spokesman. After almost two hours, his former colleagues left the building unhurt. The man then entrenched himself in the office.

A police negotiating group contacted the man. Special forces moved the apartment building with the office on the ground floor. The action is still ongoing.

According to police, the perpetrator had turned up at eight o'clock in the office. One of the women still managed to make an emergency call. According to initial findings of the investigators, the company had terminated the perpetrator. Maybe that's why there was a fight.

According to the spokeswoman, the women were in shock after the incident and were taken care of by the rescue service.

The police said the incident had nothing to do with the attack on the Christmas market in Strasbourg, France. Initially, she did not want to divulge any details about the mission for tactical reasons. The man did not know that heavily armed special forces were in action.
