The dispute over an appearance of the band fine cream fish fillet is drawing ever more circles. In the middle of the week the Bauhaus Dessau had made use of its house right and rejected a concert planned by ZDF on 6 November. Previously, right-wing groups had called on the Internet to protest against the appearance of left-wing musicians. They do not want to be a venue for political agitation and aggression, they said.

The ZDF and fine cream fish fillet explained then, they wanted to search for an alternative location in Dessau. So far, they have not yet found it. For example, the Anhaltische Theater Dessau stated that it was not available as an alternative venue.

According to a report by the Berliner Zeitung, this year's chairman of the Bauhaus Association, Berlin's Senator for Culture Klaus Lederer (left), has made an alternative suggestion: The ZDF concert by Feine Sahne Fischfilet could take place in Berlin, in the Bauhaus building -Archivs.

The building was originally designed by Walter Gropius, the founder of the historic Bauhaus, for a site in Darmstadt in 1964 and finally erected in Klingelhöfer Strasse in Berlin from 1976-1979. It is currently empty, as it is to be renovated and added to a new building.

The invitation to the ZDF and the band is also supported by the sponsoring association of the Bauhaus Archives, Markus Klimmer. He criticized the Dessau refusal to the "Berliner Zeitung" with the words: "The Bauhaus is a political place." If you say otherwise, the Bauhaus did not understand. " Here the brand Bauhaus is badly damaged.

"Significantly more moral courage expected"

From another Bauhaus institution comes criticism of the actions of the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation under the Director Claudia Perren and the Foundation Council Chairman Rainer Robra (CDU), the Minister of Culture of Saxony-Anhalt. Five professors of the Bauhaus University in Weimar found themselves obliged to a letter to Perren, which was published on Twitter and whose authenticity to the SPIEGEL was confirmed by signatories. In it they criticize that the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation "political pressure from the right to bend". One would have expected "significantly more civil courage from an institution referring to the Bauhaus."

Minister of State for Culture Monika Grütters (CDU) commented critically on Saturday: "It must never give the impression that the pressure of the right-wing extremist scene is enough to prevent a concert," said Grütters to the German Press Agency. Freedom of art enjoys high constitutional status in Germany. This value is the doctrine of German history with the attack on the democracy of right and left anti-Democrats. The responsibility of the artists to defend this freedom is indispensable, said Grütters.

Saxony-Anhalt's Minister of Culture Rainer Robra had defended the rejection. A political confrontation is incompatible with the Bauhaus, the CDU politician told the radio station MDR culture.

Fine cream fish fillet was named a few years ago because of an "explicitly anti-state attitude" in the constitutional protection report of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Most recently, the Rostock musicians played at a concert against right-wing extremism in Chemnitz. In the constitution protection report the name of the band since 2015 no longer appears.

The planned concert by Feine Sahne Fischfilet was part of the series zdf @ bauhaus. For seven years, the ZDF has been inviting musicians into the auditorium of the historic Bauhaus building Dessau, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. More than 100 concerts have been recorded and broadcast, including Andreas Bourani, Silbermond and the rapper Sido.
