Turkish authorities have been investigating a train crash that caused the death of nine people and wounded 47 others, the Turkish daily Hurriyet said.

The investigation showed that one of the workers at the station where the accident took place forgot to turn the train into its proper lane and asked him to go to the wrong track where a tow truck was on the train.

"I asked the train to go to the second track, while its speed was high, and I had to direct it to the first track, but I may have forgotten to do so," the newspaper quoted the worker as Osman.

The Turkish authorities detained three workers who were on duty at the station during the collision, two of them insisted that they performed their duties according to the rules during the passage of the train, and that they did not make any mistake.

The authorities called for more than 45 witnesses to testify in the ongoing investigation into the collision of the Ankara train, which had a speed of 80 to 90 km per hour at the time of the collision.

Ankara's mayor said the train collided with the trawler, which should not have been on the train that was heading last Thursday from the Turkish capital of Ankara to the central province of Konya.
