Three Normans are judged from this Monday in Paris. They are accused of wanting to rob a mansion in the Eure to finance a departure to Syria before joining the Islamic State.

The trial of three radicalized young men, suspected of wanting to rob a luxury manor in the Eure in 2016 to finance a departure to Syria and join the jihadist Islamic State, opened on Monday in the Paris Criminal Court .

The three defendants, between the ages of 25 and 28, with short brown hair and a beard provided, appear for terrorist conspiracy, a crime punishable by 10 years in prison.

They planned to sequester the staff of the manor

They were arrested on December 20, 2016, as part of a preliminary investigation opened by the Paris prosecutor's office, following a report by the General Directorate of Internal Security (DGSI) on a project of villainous action and violent in a luxury establishment by these three men known to be "radical Islamists" .

According to the prosecution, the trio planned to sequester the staff at the Portejoie manor, including wedding receptions, and to steal money from a safe. The booty of the flight was to be hidden in "holes" previously dug in a nearby forest, then used to finance a departure to Syria to fight in the ranks of the IS.

One of the three defendants, Norman L., had recognized in custody a robbery project, "still in the phase of scouting" , and proclaimed himself leader of the group. He then watered down his statements, minimizing the participation of the other members of the trio and the completion of the project.

Judgment expected this tuesday

Telephone tapping and a sound system of the vehicle and the home of one of them had uncovered locations near the manor and telephone conversations about a torch or a proposed purchase or lease of 'gun

Shortly before their arrest, the three young men had watched several videos of IS propaganda, torture and hostage taking, as well as the assassination of Father Jacques Hamel in the church of Saint-Etienne-du -Rouvray in July 2016. The judgment is expected Tuesday.
