As part of its accompanying cultural program, the Sharjah International Book Fair held a panel discussion highlighting the subject of fiction in literature, and its role in giving authors the inspiration to lead their stories, to create and create creative heroes.

The session, hosted by the Hall of Thought, was attended by Emirati novelist Mariam Zaabi, Palestinian novelist Hazama Habayeb, American Indian novelist Akhil Sharma and the Saudi writer Faraj al-Dhafiri.

"In my opinion, creativity is the condition of writing, and the requirement of creativity is imagination. We can not write any creative text in isolation from imagination which gives us the opportunity to translate the emotions we feel," Habayeb said.

For her part, Mariam Zaabi addressed the subject of fiction from the angle of three works of fiction. She said: "I have three narratives that can highlight the importance of fiction in literary work and creative writing.
