Sharjah Museums Authority has launched the "Autonomous Museum for Autistic Children" initiative, the first of its kind in the Arabian Gulf region, to make Sharjah Museums accessible to all categories and members of the community.

The initiative, organized by the Sharjah Archeology Museum, aims to provide educational environments designed by specialists to meet all the needs of autistic children between 7 and 12 years of age.

The educational program of this initiative is designed to provide a range of collective and individual activities that stimulate sensory integration skills within a science-based museum environment dedicated to this category.

The objectives of the initiative are in line with the national policy of the Government of the UAE in empowering people with disabilities and the directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah: "Museums have been found to be a school for our children and future generations."

The Department of Educational and Informative Services at the Sharjah Museums Authority is organizing the initiative to give autistic children a rare opportunity to visit a museum and experience a distinctive museum experience. The program includes guided tours and educational sessions to meet the needs of children with autism.

"This initiative is an integral part of the TRA's plan to make Sharjah museums available to everyone by creating an attractive and comprehensive educational environment," said Manal Ataya, Director General of Sharjah Museums Authority.

"The Sharjah Museums Authority has succeeded in consolidating relations with individuals and families of groups that are unique in our community by hosting them at the Sharjah Museum of Antiquities. Therefore, we seek to spread the Autistic Museums program in all the museums of the Authority, And give them a chance to discover our museums and learn about their holdings ».
