"Girl With A Balloon", which is by now probably the most famous picture of street art artist Banksy, will be exhibited in Baden-Baden. As the Museum Frieder Burda already announced on Tuesday, it can be seen there from 5 February to 3 March.

The museum does not want to simply flaunt the famous picture, but rather to take account of the artist's concern for the "democratization of art". "We are currently discussing how we can make the work accessible to as many people as possible," says Schaper.

The presentation will be accompanied by a symposium. In addition to backgrounds and Banksy's intention, conditions in an art world are to be illuminated that enable a "value explosion".

The anonymous artist had claimed to have his image after an auction at Sotheby's, in which it had brought just under 1.2 million euros, destroyed by a hidden mechanism. The action had not worked - the picture stuck halfway.

Banksy wants to know the action as a critique of the art market. Sotheby's, on the other hand, celebrated the destroyed image as the "first work of art in history, created live during an auction". Banksy did not destroy a piece of art with the auction, but created one.
