To a greater extent, a pandemic can affect the educational results of children who are preparing to go to the 1st grade, as well as students in grades 1-3 of primary school.

According to experts, this is due to the fact that, due to age and psycho-emotional characteristics, contact with a teacher is especially important for children, which so far is possible only in video format.

The results of pupils of grades 4-8 and 10 can also deteriorate due to the lack of full-time classes during the pandemic and a general decrease in motivation to learn. But this will be offset at the beginning of the new school year, experts say.

To a lesser extent, graduates will be affected. Thus, the proportion of students who correctly completed 60% or more of the USE tasks in a pandemic will likely increase rather than decrease, experts say.

Moreover, if the pandemic lasts until the fall of this year, students will have enough time to prepare for the exams, and no deterioration in results in 2021 is expected.

According to experts, the proportion of students who correctly completed less than 30% of the tasks of graduation work will increase due to a decrease in motivation among graduates.

The study also notes that if the pandemic lasts until October 2020, the number of winners and prize winners of the final stage of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren may decrease. This is due to the fact that children will not have the opportunity to prepare during training camps, classes in summer camps and other events.

Earlier, the Institute for Advanced Education offered to give the needy Russian students the necessary equipment for the period of distance learning.
