According to the report, both test results showed that the package contained ricin.

According to convention, all packages and letters sent to the White House must be inspected in advance at an inspection center outside the White House.

A US law enforcement official said that investigators are investigating the possibility that the package came from Canada.

"The FBI and our partners in the U.S. Secret Service and the U.S. Postal Inspection Service are investigating suspicious letters received at U.S. government mail agencies. Currently, there are no known threats to public safety." Said in a statement.

Ricin is a highly toxic compound extracted from castor beans and has been used for intimidation and other purposes.

It can be used in powder, granule, mist or acid form.

If ingested, it can cause nausea, vomiting, and bleeding in the stomach and intestines, and then lead to liver, spleen and kidney failure, and death due to the collapse of the circulatory system.
