British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said that next week he will set a timetable for when to allow the remaining sectors of the British economy to be reopened, pointing to places such as indoor gyms, swimming pools and nail care centers.
"Next week, we will set a timetable to reopen it, but of course I can only lift those remaining national restrictions when the situation is safe to do so," he told a news conference.
The slowing epidemic of Covid-19 in Europe prompted Britain to lift quarantine measures for some of those arriving in it, at a time when this possibility is still very far away in the American continent, where the new Corona continues to spread widely.
No compulsory quarantine will be imposed on travelers from Germany, France, Spain and Italy, starting July 10.
However, to avoid any confusion, the government made it clear that these exemptions only concern expatriates to Britain and a mandatory quarantine will be imposed on arrivals to Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland under penalty of a financial fine.
Patricia Yates, director of the UK official tourism office, praised what she considered "a timely push for the tourism sector as we enter the peak season."
For its part, EasyJet Aviation welcomed the matter as an "important step".
