A gas leak resulted in an explosion in a restaurant in the jurisdiction of the Al Qusais Police Station near Damascus Street without causing any human injuries.

The accident caused severe damage to two other adjacent restaurants, a pharmacy and a women's beauty salon, as well as 3 cars parked at the scene.

The Deputy Director of Al Qusais Police Center, Brigadier Abdul Rahman Al Hashemi, who moved to the scene of the accident, said that the administration of the Command and Control Center in Dubai Police received, at four in the morning, a report of an explosion in a restaurant that was closed at that time, indicating that Dubai police, upon their arrival at the site, worked In order to verify the evacuation of the residents precaution for several hours, in cooperation with the civil defense teams in Dubai, with a view to checking the damage in the building that includes the two-storey restaurant, then the work was done to return the residents to their apartments as soon as the damage verification procedures are completed.

He added that preliminary investigations showed that the cause of the accident was a gas leak, stressing that the Crime Scene Department of the General Department of Forensic Evidence and Criminology is working on preparing the final report on the accident and its causes after removing the material effects from the place.

Brigadier Al-Hashemi stressed that the owners of restaurants need to verify safety and security systems in restaurants and regular maintenance of pipes and gas conductors, especially with the start of the summer season and high temperatures.
