French police are investigating the mysterious discovery made by a woman who found
more than half a million euros in cash
in a suitcase in a basement under her Paris apartment.
"We have not finished counting.
But there are between 500,000 and 600,000 euros (585,000 and 702,000 dollars)"
in denominations of 50, 100 and 500 euros, a source close to the investigation told AFP.
The woman, in her fifties, inherited the apartment from her mother this year in a luxurious neighborhood of Paris, near the Eiffel Tower, according to

Shortly after, he contacted a real estate agent to appraise the property,
but when they wanted to inspect the basement they found it closed.
After trying in vain to find the person who had taken over the basement, the owner of the apartment called a locksmith.

found the suitcase full of money
