The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has decided to proceed with the study, aiming to eliminate all manned toll gates that will be used for cash in the future on expressways across the country and dedicate them exclusively to ETC. There is an aim to strengthen infection control of the new coronavirus.
The usage rate of ETC in Japan is currently 93%, but in the future we plan to sort out the issues and formulate a roadmap.
