Chinese Embassy responds to US accusations over the South China Sea

The Chinese Embassy emphasized that the United States ignores the efforts of China and the countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) to achieve stability in the South China Sea, "deliberately distort facts and international law" and try to cause disagreements between China and other coastal countries.

“These allegations are completely unjustified. The Chinese side is strongly opposed, ”the statement said.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the United States considers China’s claims on the resources of most of the South China Sea illegal.

The Pentagon, in turn, expressed concern about the military exercises of the PRC in the South China Sea.
