The museum's expert: "We get many questions about old houses"

- Yes, we get quite a lot of cases. We had 74 referrals in 2019. There were detailed plans, building permits, demolition permits and more, says Emma Karp, at Västmanland County Museum.

In Köping, residents are protesting that properties in the old Tunadal area should be demolished. This is just one of many examples where the question of preserving old buildings is put against the need for new construction.

The experts at the Västmanland County Museum are often able to express their views and make recommendations when the municipalities have this type of case on their tables, but not always because it is not a must.

- My opinion, however, is that you do it in many cases - referring and investigating the cultural-historical values. Then they may not be on our line, says Emma Karp.
