• Xenophobic raid in Macerata, Traini: "I was wrong, I don't feel racial hatred"

03 October 2018 Twelve years in prison for the crimes of massacre aggravated by racial hatred and abusive port of weapon. This was the condemnation request expressed by the prosecutor of the Republic of Macerata Giovanni Giorgio against Luca Traini, 29, author of the shooting against migrants last February 3rd. Starting from a sentence of 22 years, the Public Prosecutor's Office arrives at the request for 12 years taking into account the general extenuating circumstances for the accused and the reduction of one third of the sentence for the abbreviated procedure.

I had "a difficult childhood" but "I am neither crazy nor borderline". Thus Luca Traini at the trial in the Court of Assizes in Macerata for the raid with gunshots against migrants on 3 February. "My gesture - he added - is not related to the color of the skin: a little good can be both white and black". The 29-year-old from Tolentino accused of a massacre aggravated by racial hatred, six attempted murders, damage and an abusive weapon. The discussion of the judgment in progress and today could reach the verdict.

"They tell me I'm crazy or borderline - these are the words Traini said, at the trial that is taking place behind closed doors for the shortened ritual, reading what he had written in five or six sheets - but I had only a difficult childhood ". At the beginning of the hearing, the Macerata Procuratorate filed the report of the psychologists who examined Traini during the temporary detention in the Piacenza prison.

The 29-year-old, now in prison in Ancona, had been relocated for some time to the Emilian district house after he broke out on 7 June: just before he had heard that the accusations of murder against two of the three Nigerian pushers had fallen (Lucky Awlima and Desmond Lucky) initially arrested for killing and dismembering 18-year-old Pamela Mastropietro in Macerata - the girl had also hired heroin - along with Innocent Oseghale who is still in jail for the massacre.
