"There are no winners in this."

This is how Katarina Söderberg expressed herself in connection with the trial after the death of her son, 20-year-old Eric Torell, started. A statement that gained extra weight during the third day of trial.

Then the female police officer who was part of the patrol responded to an alarm about an armed and dangerous man. The alarm was not clearer than that, but the police feared that it involved a person who is already known, who is present about 30 times in the load register and who is convicted of illegal threats, weapons offenses and drug offenses. This was when there was a previous case that pertained to this particular person.

The female police officer, who shot 12 of the 25 shots in total and thus emptied his entire magazine, was previously suspected of crime. However, those suspicions were written off and instead she was told to share her experiences of the fateful night. Her two colleagues, who were part of the same patrol, are charged with malpractice and wrongful death or other malpractice. Also, an intervention manager is charged with service failure.

Had the cry in his throat

It came to be an emotional testimony.

The female police, who were on the link, were noticeably affected by the situation. With the crying in her throat, she told how her patrol went to the current address in Vasastan in Stockholm and how they ended up at the courtyard where Eric Torell was shot dead.

- We heard on the radio that the caller saw the man with the weapon and I felt we needed to get out of there. We can't get out on the street where we parked our car before we can move into the courtyard again when NN (one of the prosecuted police colleagues, red note) noticed that this man is out on the street, she said.

"I get scared"

In court, the female police continued to describe how she backed into the courtyard and took shelter. Suddenly, she says, she once again saw the man - who later turned out to be Eric Torell - approaching.

- I see he has a weapon in his hand. I scream "cops, stop!" But he raises his weapon. I get scared, he does not give the reaction I intend him to give.

Police eyes were teared up as she told of the death anxiety she experienced before firing her service weapon.

- He walks towards me and I see no other way than to escape from it, I am quite sure he will shoot me. I flee towards the house and a discount. The man then enters the courtyard and discovers me and again points his weapon at me. I am absolutely sure that he will shoot me and that I have to shoot him before he shoots me.

While the female police were crying, Eric Torell's relatives had lowered their eyes.

23 of the 25 shots taken by the three police officers, two aspirants and the female police officer who worked for seven years, the prosecutor considers to be emergency protection. Over the next few days, her colleagues who stand accused will be heard.
