Yesterday, in the Uzbek capital, Tashkent, an implementation agreement was signed between Mubadala Investment Company and the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade and the Thermal Power Stations Company of Uzbekistan.

A statement issued yesterday stated that the agreement establishes a "road map" for the implementation of the acquisition, development, financing and operation of the Talimirgan Energy Complex in Uzbekistan.

The Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan, Sardor Omorzakov, expressed his confidence that this historic partnership between the two countries will contribute to promoting growth in the region, as well as providing the necessary expertise for the development of the energy sector in Uzbekistan.

For his part, Khalid Mubaisi, CEO of Aviation, Clean Energy and Information Technology in the Mubadala, said that the agreement provides a testament to the strategic and technical capabilities that Mubadala has in the field of vital facilities.

He added, "We are honored to cooperate with distinguished Uzbek partners to implement one of the first privatization projects in the traditional power generation sector in Uzbekistan, based on the model of the independent energy producer, and we hope that the agreement will represent the first stage for further cooperation."

“The current productive capacity of (Talimirgan Energy Complex) is 1.7 gigawatts of conventional gas-powered energy, and there is a plan to expand its capacity in order to meet the growing demand for energy sources in Uzbekistan,” said Mubadala's director of vital facilities division, Muhammad Al-Harmil Al-Shamsi. ».

He stressed the commitment of "Mubadala" to a positive partnership based on transparency throughout the implementation phase, pointing out that the agreement is a first step in the path of an extended and fruitful partnership with Uzbekistan.
