Ultimately, the 777X will replace the legendary Boeing 777. This new aircraft will finally know its maiden flight, after many months of delay, Thursday. The date may still change depending on the weather, according to two sources familiar with the matter.

The maiden flight of the 777X was originally scheduled for summer 2019 but had to be postponed due to problems with the new GE9X engine, manufactured by General Electric, and difficulties with the wings and software validation.
