Judo founder Jigoro Kano, grandson of Yukimitsu Kano, dies on March 9 at 18:48

Yukimitsu Kano, grandson of Judo founder Jigoro Kano, long-time director of Kodokan and chairman of the All Japan Judo Federation, died of pneumonia at a hospital in Tokyo on the 8th. 87 years old.

Yukimitsu Kano, the founder of Judo, the grandson of Jigoro Kano, succeeded to his father, Tadashi Kano, in 1980. He has been the chairman of the All Japan Judo Federation and has been supporting Judo for over 20 years.

In 2009, he resigned from any position due to reasons such as seniority, and has served as Honorary Director of Kodokan and Honorary Chairman of Zenjuren.

According to Kodokan, Kano died of pneumonia at a hospital in Tokyo on the 8th. 87 years old.

The funeral will be held by a close relative, and a joint funeral of Kodokan and Zenjuren will be held at a later date.
