Very little detail has been given about the conditions of Rouhollah Zam's arrest. The Iranian television showed images of this opponent saying that he had been arrested during a very " elaborate and professional " operation, despite the protection of the French intelligence services.

Rouhollah Zam, who lived in France, ran the Telegram channel "Amadnews", which in recent years has played an important role in protests against power and propaganda against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The intelligence services said in a statement that Rouhollah Zam was protected by the " French intelligence services and was supported by the US CIA and the Israeli Mossad ".

The Iranian television showed images of Rouhollah Zam during his arrest, but also confessions in which he claims to regret everything he has done in recent years.

The Revolutionary Guard's intelligence services also took control of the Amadnews channel, led by Rouhollah Zam, which had 1 million subscribers before the announcement of his arrest. In the hours that followed, one-third of subscribers left the Amadnews Canal.

In December 2017, the Iranian authorities asked Telegram to suspend the channel headed by Rouhollam Zam, which advocated violence against power. After its suspension, the canal had resumed under another name.

The arrest of Rouhollah Zam is a blow for opposition groups based abroad, since he had many links, but also for some people who gave him information.
