On the women's side, Britta Johansson Norgen has dominated the long-distance race in cross-country skiing in recent years. No less than four years in a row, she has taken home the overall World Cup, and today the dog won the first individual competition of the year.
On the men's side, things have gone heavier. Not since Daniel Richardsson 2014 won the Årefjällsloppet has there been a Swedish victory in the long-running cup.
"Have a good spurt"But today it was time again. A few hours after Britta Johansson Norgren won the 35-kilometer prologue in Italian Livigno, 24-year-old Emil Persson first crossed the finish line after a ruffling spurt.
"I knew I had a good spurt, so I just stayed behind the others and took everything out at the end of the race," Persson said shortly afterwards in an interview in Eurosport.
- I felt I had a good day, so I just went for it.
Persson runs, just like Britta Johansson Norgren, for the Lager 157 Ski Team. He has previously run for Brunflo IF and Östersunds SK.
