"We expect clarity and respect for contractual commitments. We come to Italy, we win a race and we respect the contractual terms indicated in the announcement. We will be inflexible. We cannot think of changing an entrepreneurial strategy by justifying the criminal shield which, moreover, does not is contractually provided ". This is what Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte says, speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration of the 157th academic year of the Politecnico di Milano, talking about the situation linked to the former Ilva and the meeting scheduled with ArcelorMittal. The premier also announces that he will demand as Head of Government "that the commitments regarding environmental reclamation be respected", a piece considered by Conte "fundamental to the complex entrepreneurial strategy for that community and for that steel center". In summary, the priority of the Executive is to stand by the workers. "We are anxious not only to ensure continuity in these productive investments but to respect the employment level," says Conte, "as there are not only 9,000 families at stake but there is a lot more involved and we will do everything to defend these investments and this community of people ".

Renzi at work on an alternative roped party
Matteo Renzi would be at work for an alternative consortium to Arcelor Mittal for the management of the former Ilva plants in Taranto, which would involve Jindal and Cdp. This is what the newspaper la Repubblica reports today according to which the leader of Italia Viva "is already working for an alternative: a sort of replica of the consortium which, at the time of the Gentiloni government, had lost the race against Arcelor Mittal". The consortium foresees in Sajjan Jindal, already owner of the ex Acciaierie Lucchini of Piombino (in the Board there is the fraternal friend of the leader of Italy Viva Marco Carrai), the Arvedi group of Cremona and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti ". According to various reconstructions of press, the strategy of the former prime minister but also of government circles would be at this point to reintroduce through a decree an erga omnes criminal shield to remove "every alibi", would be the reasoning of Renzi with his own, to Arcelor Mittal and at that point proceed with other possible investors.

Enrico Rossi: Jindal not interested in Taranto
"Concerned about the possible negative repercussions on Piombino of a possible intervention by Jindal on the Taranto steelworks, of which a newspaper speaks today, I was interested to do a verification. At the moment there does not appear to be either a discussion or a will to do so by the Jindal group, which instead confirms the intention to intervene on Piombino with the presentation in the first months of the new year of the project for the construction of electric ovens, commitment and deadline on top of everyone's concerns ". Thus the president of Tuscany, Enrico Rossi.

Sajjan Jindal Thursday in Italy
Sajjan Jindal, president and CEO of the Indian steel group JSW, arrives in Italy on Thursday. According to sources close to the dossier, the owner of Jsw, protagonist of the past negotiated to take over Ilva, then promised to ArcelorMittal, will be in Piombino where his group took over the former Lucchini steelworks. According to rumors - however denied by the president of the Tuscany Region Enrico Rossi - Matteo Renzi would be at work for an alternative consortium to ArcelorMittal that would involve Jindal. Sajjan Jindal, according to other sources, could meet the extraordinary commissioners of the former Ilva on Friday.

Works council in Taranto
The meeting of the works council took place in Taranto to decide on mobilization initiatives after ArcelorMittal's decision to exit the management of the steel group, which includes the steelworks of Taranto, giving back over 30 days to the commissioners of the Ilva extraordinary administration both plants and personnel, 10,700 workers hired a year ago, of which 8,200 in Taranto. Trade union sources state that the debate with the interventions is ongoing and at the moment no decision has been taken on which initiative to take. The situation is very critical, the sources comment.

Gualtieri: whatever it takes to avoid a dramatic outcome
"I think a serious country should do everything possible and necessary to avoid what would be a dramatic negative outcome." The Minister of Economy, Roberto Gualtieri, said this during the hearing on the tax bill, answering questions from deputies on the situation of the former Ilva. "I liked the title of a newspaper that quoted the words of the now ex-ECB president, Mario Draghi: whatever it takes ...".

Patuanelli: A.Mittal has failed the business plan
"Arcelor Mittal has decided to leave Taranto sooner" than the change of governance that "has the task of transporting the Indian property out of Ilva". Thus the Minister of Economic Development, Stefano Patuanelli, who attacks on Facebook: "The company's business plan has been disregarded in the numbers, with a view to relaunching and has no future projection. This is due to macroscopic errors in the top figures and contingencies macroeconomic linked to the steel market "duties, production decline in Germany, automotive crisis", says Patuanelli.

Patuanelli: Arcelor Mittal wanted to leave long ago
"A writ of summons against the extraordinary commissioners was signed by Arcelor Mittal at the Court of Milan, signed by seven lawyers and comprising 37 pages and 37 attachments. This demonstrates that for weeks, perhaps months, the company was preparing the abandonment of the area ". The Minister of Development Stefano Patuanelli writes it on facebook, who talks about a multinational that "makes instrumental excuses and makes fun of the State".

Codacons will sue ArcelorMittal for attempted extortion
"The closure, opening of a business or the termination of a contract cannot be subjected to the modification of a law of the State or to prevent a provision legitimately adopted by a criminal magistrate, because this threat may constitute an attempted extortion and a violence to a collegiate body ". This is stated by the Codacons which announces a complaint against ArcelorMittal for tomorrow. The Codacons represents in the proceedings opened in Taranto numerous citizens who consider themselves damaged by Ilva. "If the company confirms the termination of the contract as a result of the elimination of the 'penal shield' we would face not only an illegitimate act, but an attempted extortion against the State, a blackmail on the skin of thousands of workers and the Italian economy - says Codacons - For this reason and although confirming the need to close the factory until it continues to produce deaths and environmental destruction, we will present a formal complaint to the public prosecutors of Rome and Taranto tomorrow to open an investigation into ArcelorMittal for any criminal offenses such as violence against a collegiate body and attempted extortion against the Government ".

Conte-A.Mittal meeting on Wednesday at 11 am
Yesterday, at the end of a hectic day, which began with the cold shower of the announcement of the withdrawal by ArcelorMittal's former Ilva of Taranto, Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte had summoned the top management of the company. The meeting should have been held this afternoon, but in the face of the splits that emerged in the majority, the Council of Ministers sent him back to Wednesday at 11am. The crux is the penal shield, without which, argues the Anglo-Indian steel giant, "not it is possible to implement our environmental plan ".

"The government will not allow the closure of Ilva", said Patuanelli at the end of the summit at Palazzo Chigi, adding that "there is no right of withdrawal" (a point disputed by the company, which claims that in agreement with the government the clause is planned, ed). And that the legal shield claimed by ArcelorMittal "is the fig leaf". To those who ask what the real problem of the company is: "It is evident, also from the changes of governance, that the governance that had followed the plants up until now has not worked".
