On the morning of September 28, the groundbreaking ceremony of Xining-Chengdu Railway was held at Xining Railway Station.

  The Xining-Chengdu Railway is a key project in the national "13th Five-Year Plan", as well as a national mid-to-long-term railway network planning "eight vertical and eight horizontal" high-speed railway network fast passages and 16 poverty alleviation railway projects in deeply impoverished areas in the "three regions and three states" of the country one.

  The main line of the Xicheng Railway is 836.5 kilometers long and the total project investment is 81.49 billion yuan.

Among them, Qinghai uses the existing Lanzhou-Xinjiang high-speed railway of 26.3 kilometers, the newly built mileage of 146.1 kilometers, and the investment of 11.97 billion yuan.

The newly-built line will be led from the Haidongxi Station and leave the province via Haidong City and Huangnanzhou. Three new stations, Hualong, Jianzha and Tongren will be established within the province.

  The geological structure and topographical conditions along the project are complex, especially the bridge-tunnel connection in Qinghai Province. The bridge-tunnel ratio is as high as 92%, which is the most difficult part of the whole line.

The main technical indicators of the project are National Railway Class I, double-track, with a design speed of 200 km/h, and conditions for speeding up to 250 km/h are reserved for some sections, and the construction period is 7 and a half years.

After completion, the driving time from Xining to Chengdu will be about four and a half hours.
