Prime Minister Moustapha Adib, appointed at the end of August to try to form a government to rescue Lebanon, gave up his mission on Saturday, September 26.

The Speaker of Parliament, Nabih Berry, defended himself for having sabotaged France's efforts to pull Lebanon out of its crises.

He accused others, without naming them, of having torpedoed them, alluding to the former Sunni heads of government, who advised Mustapha Adib not to cede anything to the Shiites represented by the Amal movement he himself leads and Hezbollah.
