Sharjah's top-growing e-commerce and delivery service licenses in August

The total number of business licenses issued and renewed in the Emirate of Sharjah during the month of August of this year reached 5788 licenses, a growth rate of 48% compared to August of last year 2019, according to the report on business licenses recently issued by the Sharjah Economic Development Department, while the report revealed a remarkable increase in rates exceeding 100% in a number of activities such as electronic trading, delivery services, building approval and contracting licenses, fifth category, compared to last year, 

In detail, the number of renewed licenses in August of this year reached 5,367 licenses, with a growth rate of 49% compared to the same period last year, while the number of licenses issued by the Department during August of the current year reached 421, with a growth of 28% over the same period of 2019.

The business activities of licenses issued in the emirate varied to include various sectors, as the commercial licenses topped the list with 255 licenses, and the professional licenses came second with 103 licenses, followed by accreditation licenses, then electronic trade licenses and industrial licenses.

The head of the Sharjah Economic Development Department, Sultan Abdullah bin Hadda Al Suwaidi, said that these data are among the important economic indicators that the department relies on to study the economic situation in the emirate, stressing the department’s keenness to move forward in implementing its vision to achieve a diversified, competitive economy based on knowledge. And innovation, by developing services to match the highest international quality standards in terms of speed of delivery and access to dealers and investors in the economic sector in the emirate, and the endeavor to complete transactions easily.

Al Suwaidi added that these data confirm the continuous growth of the emirate’s economy, which reflects the great confidence of investors and business owners in the economic climate of the Emirate of Sharjah, and its increase in its pace in all sectors that have achieved great development, amid positive indicators that show continued economic growth in the current year.

The head of the Sharjah Economic Development Department pointed out that the high growth rates in electronic trade licenses confirms a change in the stereotypical vision of companies and the orientation towards digital channels, especially during the current time and the changes that the global economic map is witnessing, in order to serve the local economy, enhance the movement of investments and achieve Sustainable economic development in the emirate.

For his part, the director of the registration and licensing department at the department, Fahad Al-Khumairi, affirmed that "the data issued by the Department of Economic Development in Sharjah indicate that there has been a significant increase in the investment movement in existing projects, in addition to a remarkable increase in a number of economic activities whose numbers have achieved a quantum leap. Compared to previous years, as it was observed through reports that the number of electronic trading licenses, delivery service licenses and approval licenses doubled, by issuing new licenses or by adding some existing traditional licenses to electronic trading activity in order to be able to keep up with the current conditions, which are indications of sustainable growth of the Emirate's economy Sharjah, where the emirate has a strategy through which it seeks to maintain a good pace of growth rates during the next phase, which depends on attractions that include the distinctive geographical location and the great development witnessed by the service sectors.

Al-Khumairi emphasized that the department's provision of advanced digital services, employing the latest communication techniques with partners and the public of dealers, and ensuring that services are provided to them smoothly and safely, contributed to encouraging and stimulating their business and expanding their trade and economic activities in the emirate, indicating that this comes within the framework of the department's interest in following up the implementation of its strategies aimed at planning And lead the overall economic development in the emirate.
