Iran has indeed exceeded the uranium storage limits authorized by the Vienna agreement signed in 2015, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) announced on Friday, September 4, after a visit from a first nuclear site on Iranian soil.

This stock is ten times greater than the limit set, while a second site must also be inspected.

Iran had warned that uranium enrichment would resume.

It is therefore not surprising to learn, Friday, September 4, that the stock is well above the authorized limits.

Tehran believes it was betrayed by the United States in 2018, when Washington withdrew from the nuclear deal reached in Vienna in 2015. And Donald Trump, the American president, did not stop there.

For two years, he has strangled the Iranian economy with

a series of sanctions

aimed at isolating Iran from its trading partners.

Tehran's response to the international community

The Iranian regime has always said it: this treatment is unfair and unjustifiable on the part of the Americans.

Iran believes that it has always respected its commitments and its biggest partners, France, China, Great Britain, Russia and Germany.

And the Islamic Republic had indicated that in the absence of help from its partners to circumvent US sanctions, it would resume uranium enrichment, in a transparent and controlled manner, with the

International Atomic Energy Agency

( IAEA) to monitor the process.

The last report on Iranian uranium enrichment activity was dated June.

He mentioned 1,570 kilograms of low enriched uranium.

Today that figure has risen to over 2,100 kilograms, ten times more than the limit authorized by the Vienna Agreement.

Iran is not going to make an atomic bomb with low enriched uranium.

However, Tehran wants to show the international community that it has the means.

“

Tehran is in a logic of proportionate response in the arm wrestling that opposes it to the great powers, against the backdrop of the pressures put by the United States.

Tehran's objective, through the gradual increase in its uranium stockpile, is to show that it does not let it go, that it does not agree with its current situation.

He believes that Europeans are responsible.

But, on the other hand, we do not want to go into a full confrontation with European countries, with Russia or with China.

There are a whole host of other limitations that Iran continues to respect.

And Iran has always made it clear that this violation of this limit was done transparently, and that the IAEA always had access to its stocks of enriched uranium

”, decrypts for RFI Vincent Eiffling, associate researcher at CECRI of the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium.
