He explained that sales outlets are currently offering discounts on hand sanitizer 200 milliliters, from 13.90 dirhams to 10 dirhams, a decrease of 28%, and another type of 95 milliliters from 8.50 dirhams to five dirhams, a decrease of 41%.

He called for more offers on alcohol-based surface sterilizers that are widely used, indicating that their offers are limited and include only one or two types.

Al-Dakkak agreed that there are also offers on surface disinfectants that contain alcohol, for the first time now, but they are limited offers, pointing out that the pandemic has led to discounts on alcohol-free bars, which were very expensive, and are now within the reach of a large number of consumers.

He mentioned that most of the global companies producing surface sterilizers sell in many markets of the world, indicating that the demand for these sterilizers is less than hand sanitizers, and is mostly concentrated on government companies, along with some individual consumers.

He explained that the first period of the pandemic witnessed some importers exploiting the high demand for sterilizers in the local market, and raising the prices of raw materials, especially alcohol, whose prices rose from three or four dirhams per liter to 16 dirhams per liter, forcing local companies The producer sought to buy at this high price, and a tangible impact on her profits due to the high cost of production.

Profitable sector

For his part, the retail expert, Davy Nagpal, attributed the low original prices of sterilizers to the abundance of production, whether imported or domestic, after many countries entered the market for the production of sterilizers, as it is a profitable sector now, and many traders have turned to importing sterilizers after they found that the demand high.

Nagbal stressed the need to continue to tighten monitoring of the markets, to ensure that sterilizers will continue to be available at reasonable prices during the coming period, after the significant increase in their prices and their lack of availability at the beginning of the pandemic.

Reducing customs procedures

Previously, the Ministry of Economy announced that it had coordinated with suppliers and sales outlets, to ensure the provision of goods, especially those whose demand is increasing due to the Corona pandemic, at reasonable prices, and coordinated with customs authorities and departments in the country, to facilitate the entry of shipments of goods for which there is great demand , And basic, from the port to the warehouse.
