China News Service, Beijing, August 14 (Reporter Wang Enbo) The price of pork in China, which has fallen from a high level for some time, has risen again recently. Fu Linghui, spokesperson for the National Bureau of Statistics of China, said in Beijing on the 14th that pork prices will continue to run at a high level for a period of time, but overall prices are unlikely to rise sharply.

In July, China's consumer price index (CPI) rose by 2.7% year-on-year, an increase of 0.2 percentage points from the previous month. Fu Linghui analyzed at the press conference of the State Council Information Office that day that food prices rose by 13.2% year-on-year in July, accounting for 99.3% of the total CPI increase, which was the main factor driving the increase in consumer prices that month.

He pointed out that there are two main factors affecting the increase in food prices from a structural point of view: one is the increase in pork prices. In July, pork prices rose by 85.7% year-on-year, affecting the increase in consumer prices by 2.3 percentage points; the second is the price of fresh vegetables 7 The month-on-year increase was 7.9% year-on-year, affecting consumer prices by nearly 0.2 percentage points.

There are also two factors for the increase in pork prices: as companies resume work and production, catering services have gradually recovered, and the demand for catering-related pork has expanded; the southern flood situation in July has an adverse effect on the production and transportation of pigs, resulting in an excessive increase in pork prices .

Talking about the future trend of pork prices, Fu Linghui said that since last year, due to some unreasonable restrictions on breeding, the production capacity of pigs has been affected to a certain extent. Governments at all levels have increased the production capacity of live pigs in a timely manner. According to the survey, the number of live pigs is increasing seasonally, but from the perspective of supply, the production and supply of live pigs are still in tight balance. The high price operation will continue for a period of time, but overall pork prices A sharp rise is unlikely.

Fu Linghui emphasized that there is still a solid foundation for stable food prices in China. The most important part of food prices is grain. China's grain production has stabilized at more than 1.3 trillion catties for five consecutive years. At present, grain stocks are relatively sufficient. This year's summer grain harvest has also achieved a record high, and the output of summer grain increased by 0.9% over the previous year. In general, there are foundations and conditions for keeping food prices stable throughout the year. (Finish)
