The former president of Telefónica César Alierta (Zaragoza, 1945) is admitted to a Madrid hospital in an induced coma and in serious condition, after his health condition became complicated as a result of a second heart attack that occurred in late July.

A month or so ago, Alierta overcame a first heart attack, which was repeated a few days ago, according to what El Economista reported on Thursday, and sources close to the family have confirmed to EFE. Due to this worsening, she received a first induced coma a few days ago and today a second one was performed, awaiting her evolution in the intensive care unit of the hospital center.

The president of the Fundación Telefónica has been executive president of the telecommunications operator from 2000 to 2016.

Graduated in Law from the University of Zaragoza, Alierta has been President of Tabacalera and is currently the largest shareholder of Real Zaragoza.
