While the beet industry is in great difficulty because of a yellowing that affects crops, the government announced on Thursday that it wanted to re-authorize, "under strictly supervised conditions", an insecticide banned since 2018. This exemption would be introduced maximum until 2023.

The government announced Thursday that it wanted to allow sugar beet growers to use, "under strictly supervised conditions", an insecticide banned since 2018 in order to protect their crops from green aphids, vectors of the jaundice virus. The executive plans to obtain "a legislative change this fall", introducing a maximum exemption until 2023, as part of a support plan for the sector, said the Ministry of Agriculture in a press release.
