Gasoline price rises for 12 consecutive weeks A slight increase in the next week of the Bon holiday, or 16:52 on August 5

The nationwide average retail price of regular gasoline this week rose to 134.5 yen per liter for the 12th consecutive week due to the rise in crude oil prices. It is expected that there will be a slight increase in prices next week, when it is expected that more people will go out during the Obon holidays.

According to the Petroleum Information Center, which is commissioned by the government to survey gasoline prices, the national average retail price of regular gasoline as of March 3 was 134.5 yen per liter, an increase of 2.2 yen from the previous week.

Gasoline price increases have continued for 12 weeks.

The main reason for this was the rise in crude oil prices due to expectations for the recovery of the global economy, which had been declining due to the new coronavirus.

From next week, it is expected that more and more people will go out by car for homecoming and traveling during Obon vacation, but the Oil Information Center expects a slight increase in price next week.

However, from next week onward, he said, "The outlook for gasoline prices is uncertain due to the growing concern that the new coronavirus infection will spread again in Japan and the United States."
