Since its trial operation in 2016, the Chongming Solid Waste Disposal and Comprehensive Utilization Center has built two incineration lines with an annual disposal capacity of 166,000 tons. The waste incineration plant can process 500 tons of domestic waste for the three islands of Chongming every day to ensure that domestic waste does not leave the island.
Walking into the factory, people are like entering an ecological garden. The reporter saw that with the roar of the equipment belonging to the two imported garbage incinerators, a garbage truck passed through the automatic weighing device and then drove into the fermentation area of the unloading hall in the plant, and issued instructions through the central control room computer. , The entrance of the fully enclosed fermentation pit will automatically open, the garbage will be dumped into the pit, and the entrance area will be closed. It only takes three to four minutes for the whole process.
According to reports, each ton of waste incinerated in the plant can generate about 400 kWh, and the average monthly power generation is about 5,760 MW. The generated energy can provide about 48 million kWh to the Chongming grid every year, meeting the annual electricity consumption of 30,000 households. . Changxing Island is one of the three islands of Chongming. With the continuous advancement of urbanization, the Changxing Island Wastewater Treatment Plant, which was built in 2006, is the largest and only wastewater treatment plant on the island. It can no longer meet the increasing demand for wastewater treatment with complex sources. The plant renovation project brooks no delay. It is understood that the Changxing Island Sewage Plant has added equipment for the control of harmful elements such as phosphorus and nitrogen removal in the upgrading and transformation of the Changxing Island Wastewater Treatment Plant. At the same time, it has added deodorizing equipment with chemical scrubbing, biological filter and photocatalytic oxidation functions for gas emissions.
