The first digital trade and economic exhibition between the UAE and China received registration requests from more than 2,000 exhibitors and more than 12,000 buyers.

Sheikh Majid bin Abdullah Al Mualla, Chairman of the “Hala in China” Initiative, said: “The UAE is the most important trading partner of China in the Arab world, as it contributes to more than 26% of the total volume of China's non-oil foreign trade with the Arab countries.”

He added to «Emirates Today», on the sidelines of the establishment of the first digital exhibition for trade and economy between the two countries, during the period from 15 to 21 July this year, that «the official figures available at the Ministry of Economy showed the growth of bilateral trade between China and the UAE quickly, before the outbreak of a pandemic crisis -19), as trade between the two countries exceeded 184 billion dirhams in 2019, an increase of 16% over 2018, with Emirati non-oil exports to China growing by 64% in the same period, and the UAE continuing to diversify its economy.

He stressed that the two countries targeted the development of bilateral trade by about 100 billion dollars this year, before the global crisis caused by the pandemic "Covid-19".

Al-Mualla pointed out that the UAE's relations with China will provide promising and strategic opportunities for growth and mutual cooperation in the post-Coved-19 world, as the crisis can be turned into an opportunity, and the digital exhibition is a new and innovative form of bilateral cooperation.

Al-Mualla affirmed that "the UAE and China are already at the forefront of the modern world in terms of innovation, and setting up an exhibition of this scope is a sign of flexibility and creativity in both countries."

He said: "The digital exhibition has already received registration requests from more than 2,000 exhibitors and more than 12,000 buyers, while more than 100,000 people are expected to gather over the course of its seven days."

He pointed out that the exhibition witnesses the interaction of companies from the Emirates and China via the Internet, to explore new opportunities for economic cooperation, as it represents a smooth transition to digital platforms, in line with the future directions of the UAE, especially with the new structure of its government, which reflects the extent of the state’s keenness to create conditions, to ensure Leadership site in the future.

It is noteworthy that the "Hala China" initiative was launched in 2018, and aims to enhance economic and cultural exchanges, and advance investment cooperation between Dubai and China.
