In his viewfinder, a certain Jeep Wrangler. Like the latter, the new generation Ford Bronco is a machine cut for crossing. It rests on an old school ladder frame, has independent suspensions at the front and a good old rigid bridge at the rear associated with coil springs. We therefore narrowly escape the leaf springs.
Under the hood, there is a choice of 4-cylinder petrol 2.3 Ecoboost of 270 hp associated with a 7-speed manual gearbox (!), Or a 310 hp V6 that can be mated to an automatic gearbox. Ford also offers two types of all-wheel drive: one modern, with electronically controlled transfer case, the other more old-fashioned, whose transfer case engages manually. To put it bluntly, the Bronco seems to be the new Land Rover Defender as some have dreamed of.
Like the Wrangler and the Defender, the Bronco is presented in two body versions (2 or 4 doors). The doors can be dismantled and stored in specific protective covers.
If we have certainly had a little supper of SUVs, we remain fans of 4x4s that transpire authenticity. The following is therefore sad news for us: the Bronco should not leave the American continent for which it was designed. Notice to unrelated importers…
