Business creations increased significantly in June (+ 38.2%) after their strong rebound in May, thus returning to their pre-crisis level, reported INSEE on Wednesday. After two months of fall in March and April, then a rebound of 59.6% (revised figure) in May, business creations have increased "strongly" in all sectors of activity, specifies the National Institute of Statistics .
"The biggest increase concerns accommodation and food service activities (+ 75.3%), mainly in fast food activities", followed by transport and storage activities, mainly in home delivery, details INSEE. All categories combined, 75,246 companies were created in France last month, against 54,464 in May and 34,118 in April during the confinement. Before the crisis in February, these creations amounted to 69,514.
Down from 2019
The creations of conventional companies increased more strongly than those of micro-enterprises, with an increase of 43.2% for the former against 33.6% for the latter. However, during the last three months, i.e. between April and June, business start-ups remained sharply down compared to the same months of 2019 (-18.1%).
