The assistant undersecretary for public financial management affairs at the Ministry of Finance, Maryam Muhammad al-Amiri, revealed that the ministry is currently preparing to launch a huge government procurement platform that includes the goods and services needed by various government agencies

Al-Amiri explained, at a symposium organized by the Emirates Entrepreneur Association this evening, that the platform will include between 85% to 90% of government purchases, and about 36 parties will participate in the first stage and the platform will include 15 major categories of tenders and each category includes dozens of goods and will be available to all government agencies The conclusion of long-term purchase contracts from the platform for a period of up to 3 years, which constitutes a major qualitative shift in government action.

Al-Amiri called on small and medium-sized companies to register in the supplier registry for the federal government to enter the platform and obtain a share of government purchases.

She noted that small and medium enterprises will have a large share of digital government purchases in the event of registration in the registry of suppliers.

Maryam Al-Amiri indicated at the symposium that the ministry was ready to launch the platform this year, but that the Corona pandemic affected its plans, noting that the ministry is making great efforts to launch the platform at the earliest time.

For his part, Mohammed Al Junaibi, Director of Procurement and Supply Chain Department at Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation, revealed that the nuclear program concluded contracts with two thousand small and medium-sized local companies worth 17.3 billion dirhams during the construction phase of the project.

He revealed that the UAE peaceful nuclear program will be operational by the end of this year and the project will provide tenders for projects in the electricity sector that will last for more than sixty years and this is a great opportunity for owners of small and medium projects to participate in the tenders of the program and benefit from it.

For his part, the assistant undersecretary at the Abu Dhabi Government Support Department confirmed Tris Al Kutabi that the department will soon launch a specialized platform for entrepreneurs and medium and small companies in Abu Dhabi, noting that companies were exempted from bidding guarantees and a good implementation guarantee provided that government agencies withhold 5% of the value of each Invoice due for 3 months after final delivery.

For its part, the Emirati Entrepreneur Association called on the federal and local government agencies to support the citizen entrepreneurs and small and medium-sized companies to face the repercussions of the Corona pandemic, and Ibrahim Bin Shaheen, Vice President of the society, said that the association that many companies face serious difficulties due to the repercussions of the virus.

The President of the Emirati Entrepreneur Association, Sanad Al-Maqbali, called at the symposium to enact legal legislations that support small and medium enterprises and allocate specific projects to small and medium enterprises, in addition to obtaining small companies facilities to support their continuation, noting that the Corona pandemic has affected many of these companies.
