Successor to the GranTurismo, the MC20 is eagerly awaited by fans of the trident brand, who have longed for many years to finally see a new sports car rejuvenate the range. Maserati has also announced that this new engine will allow it to make a comeback in competition after a very long absence.
The manufacturer has just unveiled its new "heart" and it is clear that the wait was worth it. Equipped with F1 technologies, this 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 develops 630 hp and a torque of 750 Nm between 3,000 and 5,500 rpm. To know the performance it will offer to the MC20, it will however still have to wait, because the presentation of the car was postponed in September ... And beyond the figures, there is one very important thing to discover concerning engine: his voice !
Finally, the little anecdotal touch that will delight enthusiasts. Italian sports manufacturers are still poets of mechanics, this V6 has received a name: Nettuno. For those who do not make the connection, Nettuno is the Italian translation of Neptune, Roman god of the seas, whose weapon is… a trident.
