Banco Santander enters fully into the great mobility battle with the launch of Wabi, a subscription micro-vehicle vehicle platform.

The financial institution tries to distinguish itself from other groups of driverless vehicle rental through mobile phones by offering longer lease periods (30 days), renewable monthly and with no commitment to stay.

The entity promises its customers "the advantages of having a car without the commitments to buy it" and aligns with the major trends in the transport sector that question the need for a private car.

"The Wabi subscription service offers comprehensive insurance and roadside assistance, vehicle maintenance, tire change and management fees and taxes," Santander Consumer Finance said in a statement.

The registration system is similar to that of competitors such as Acciona, Zity, Car2Go or Repsol. The user must download an application on the mobile and register with her driving license. Then, you will have to choose the car from the available catalog (utility, high-end, diesel, gasoline, electric ...). The platform has a total of 35 vehicles available starting with prices ranging from 361 euros for the Hyundai I10 to 575 euros for the Hyundai IONIQ.

The service is already available in the Community of Madrid and the bank's intention is to extend it soon to Andalusia, Catalonia and the Valencian Community.

"The launch of Wabi is part of Santander Consumer's digital transformation process, which in January already acquired the autos.com platform, and its commitment to offering products and services that meet the needs of any type of customer. In addition, in In the current context, this new service offers a flexible alternative for those who need to make temporary use of a private vehicle, "highlights the group led by Ana Botín.

The bank offers dealers, a sector that is threatened by this type of initiative, the possibility of placing their cars on the platform on the condition that they are a maximum of four years old and less than 100,000 kilometers of use.
