Japan's Export Control to Korea WTO Outlook for Subcommittee next month: June 30, 4:36

The WTO established a subcommittee on the 29th in response to the Korean government's appeal against the WTO = World Trade Organization in response to the measures taken by the Japanese government to tighten export control of semiconductor raw materials for South Korea. We discussed whether to do it. Japan did not agree with this, and the installation was postponed on this day, but it is expected that a trial will be made if Korea asks again at the next meeting.

The Japanese and South Korean governments, who have been in conflict with each other over the measures to tighten the export control of three items such as semiconductor raw materials for South Korea since July last year, have been discussing for resolution, but the gap between the claims is large, Filed a lawsuit with the WTO on the settlement of trade disputes on the 18th of this month.

In response, WTO member countries discussed at a meeting held on the 29th whether to approve the establishment of a sub-committee serving as a court.

In the suit, the Korean side argues that Japan's measures violate international trade rules.

In response to this, the Japanese side explained at the meeting that it is a measure to prevent the military diversion recognized by WTO member countries, and that exports whose use has been confirmed to be for the private sector are permitted, and then a solution will be made through a dialogue. I did not agree that it should.

As a result, the establishment of the subcommittee was postponed at this day's meeting.

However, according to the WTO regulations, Korea will be required to establish it again at the next meeting, and it will be approved unless all member countries object.

For this reason, it is expected that a subcommittee will be established at the meeting in July, and the conflict between Japan and South Korea will be heard by international organizations.
