China News Service, June 10, according to the website of the National Bureau of Statistics, in May 2020, the national factory producer price fell by 3.7% year-on-year and 0.4% month-on-month; the purchase price of industrial producers fell 5.0% year-on-year and 1.2 month-on-month %. On average from January to May, the ex-factory prices of industrial producers fell by 1.7% over the same period last year, and the purchase prices of industrial producers fell by 2.2%.


Year-on-year changes in industrial producer prices

  Among industrial producers' ex-factory prices, the prices of means of production fell by 5.1% year-on-year, an increase of 0.6 percentage points from the previous month, which affected the overall level of industrial producers' ex-factory prices by about 3.79 percentage points. Among them, the prices of extractive industries fell by 14.8%, the prices of raw materials industries fell by 9.9%, and the prices of processing industries fell by 2.4%. The price of living materials rose by 0.5% year-on-year, a decrease of 0.4 percentage points from the previous month, which affected the overall level of industrial producers’ ex-factory prices to rise by about 0.14 percentage points. Among them, food prices rose by 2.9%, clothing prices fell by 0.6%, general commodity prices fell by 0.2%, and durable consumer goods prices fell by 1.7%.


  Among the purchase prices of industrial producers, the price of fuel and power fell by 15.5% year-on-year, the price of chemical raw materials fell by 10.3%, the price of non-ferrous metal materials and wires fell by 5.5%, and the price of ferrous metal materials fell by 2.7%; the price of agricultural and sideline products rose 5.9%, the price of construction materials and non-metallic products rose by 0.4%.

Momentum changes in industrial producer prices

  Among the producer prices of industrial producers, the prices of means of production fell by 0.5% month-on-month, a decrease of 1.3 percentage points from the previous month, which affected the overall level of producer prices of industrial producers by about 0.36 percentage points. Among them, the prices of extractive industries fell by 1.7%, the prices of raw materials industries fell by 1.1%, and the prices of processing industries fell by 0.2%. The prices of living materials fell by 0.3% month-on-month, and the decrease was 0.2 percentage points higher than last month, which affected the overall level of industrial producers’ ex-factory prices to fall by about 0.07 percentage points. Among them, the price of food fell by 0.5%, the prices of clothing and general daily necessities fell by 0.1%, and the prices of durable consumer goods fell by 0.2%.

  Among the purchase prices of industrial producers, the prices of fuel and power fell by 4.2% month-on-month, the prices of chemical raw materials fell by 1.5%, and the prices of ferrous metal materials fell by 0.3%; the prices of non-ferrous metal materials and wires rose by 0.5%.
